Hi Sean02, If you have applied for a new National Insurance Number then it may take up to 8 weeks for you to receive it. If you have not received your Number after 8 weeks then you may wish to call the National Insurance Allocation Team on 0800 141 2079. Thank you. Answer.

You can start working without a National Insurance number, however, you may already hold one. You can complete and send the CA5403, which wwe can use to trace your national insurance number. If you do not have one, once you return to the UK you can apply by going to Apply for a National Insurance number

If you have done this and received your own National Insurance number, you will need to tell your employer your correct National Insurance number. For the current tax year (06/04/2023 to 05/04/2024) your employer will be able to amend any submissions they have made incorrectly.

You can pay by sending a cheque to: HM Revenue and Customs National Insurance Contributions and Employer Office BX9 1AN Allow 3 working days for your payment to reach HMRC.
